I'll help when a little direction makes a photograph better, organise the family photographs that matter, and find time for relaxed portraits of the two of you, however I'm not going to turn your wedding into an all-day photography production.
Most of the time, I'll be watching what's happening around me and photographing the moments you couldn't possibly plan.

Documentary wedding photography is about observing rather than constantly directing.

If the light is better somewhere else, I'll tell you. If you need help during your couple photographs, I'll give you some direction.
If we need to organise family groups, we'll get them done efficiently.
Then you can get back to the important bit:
Your wedding.
The aim is to give you photographs that don't simply show you how everything looked.
Years from now, I want them to remind you how being there actually felt.

Not at all. A lot of the couples who come to me say exactly the same thing.
My approach isn't based around constantly posing you or asking you to perform for the camera.
For most of the wedding, you'll simply be getting married, talking, laughing, drinking, eating and celebrating while I photograph what's happening around you.
When some direction genuinely helps, I'll give it.
DO YOU TAKE FORMAL FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHS?
Yes.
Documentary wedding photography doesn't mean your parents aren't allowed a photograph of everyone together.
We'll decide which family photographs are genuinely important, organise them efficiently and get everyone back to enjoying themselves.
HOW LONG DO COUPLE PHOTOGRAPHS TAKE?
I don't want to disappear with you for an hour while your wedding carries on without you.
I'd much rather find a couple of short opportunities during the day when the light, location and timing work.
Often fifteen to twenty relaxed minutes is all we need.
HAVE YOU PHOTOGRAPHED EVERY VENUE LISTED HERE?
No — and I won't pretend otherwise.
